Desert Pond

Desert Pond
8 x 8 inches
Oil on Canvas Board
Sold
Last year, I got to spend quite a bit of time out west. We hit the Grand Canyon, Sparks Nevada (to check out the horses at the BLM), and ended with a trip down the coast of California, then back up thru wine country. The colors there are so different that here in KY, but beautiful nevertheless.

This is one of my favorite paintings. It brings me back to some of my hiking trips down in Tennessee. Clear day, cool weather, beautiful scenery.

Florida Marsh

Florida Marsh
8 x 10 inches
Oil on Stretched Canvas
Sold
I've been so blessed to be able to spend a great deal of time in Southern Florida. The winters there are just fantastic. There's something about the green of the marsh grasses againt the reflected blue skies in the still water. I'm looking forward to spending more time there this winter again.

Canoe Path

Canoe Path
8 x 10 inches
Oil on canvas board
Sold
When I was younger, we would go canoeing at least twice a year. Usually once with the youth group at church and once with a group of friends. There's something to be said for how quiet (yes I said quiet...even with a group of young people) a canoe can be on the water. It's a great way to go birding, see the local countryside, and just hang with some close friends.

Blue Ridge Sunrise

I love Tennessee. My family and I have spent many, many weeks down in the Smoky Mountain area. Even though I live in Kentucky (which is a state I love!), Tennessee has a "homey" feel to it for me as well.

Sunrise at Independence Pond

Sunrise At Independence Pond
8 x 8 inches
Oil on Canvas Board
Sold
There is a pond up where we keep our horses. Mornings are one of my favorite times there. There is always bird "action", sometimes there's a mist, other times it's just me and the horses startling frogs into the water. Even though you can't see any homes from the pond itself, it's nearly surrounded by development. I love capturing quiet moments like this.

Canyon Creek

Canyon Creek
8 x 10 inches
Oil on Canvas
Completed 2010
Sold
So...why do I choose to paint the paintings that I do each day? Unknown. Some days it could be my mood. Other days it could be a book or magazine I've finished reading. Again other days, it just may be nostalgia from my memories and it simply feels good to capture a moment on canvas.
