My first painting on Daily Paintworks....

Well, I just joined Daily Paintworks and I'll be listing a few of my small paintings there and selling them from my ETSY page.  I honestly don't know what I'm doing yet, but hope to spend some time over the next couple of weeks figuring it out.
One thing I've learned as an artist in this day and age, is to use social media as much as you can.  I really wish I had gotten more involved years ago instead of doing only the bare minimum.  Honestly, I dislike working on the computer, but I have to admit, my time spent there usually pays off.
Happy Painting!

Yum....

Here's another little still life...that didn't last very long!  By the time I was finished painting it, this little danish was hard as a rock.  Thinking ahead...I had bought extra.  Painting food can be fun!

The below landscape painting along with the other little landscapes I have up for auction on ebay this week can be found by clicking on the link at the above right.

The Highlights have it....

I'm always forcing myself to push my lights and darks.  This little still life was painted on a gray toned canvas and underpainted with terra rosa.  Once I block in the main colors, I start pushing the highlights and shadow colors.

You can see the difference.

Hello 2012 !!!!!

Well, we're here in Sunny (but a bit chilly today) Florida! I'm so excited about painting down here the next few months and I'm already loving the weather! I ended up breaking my phone yesterday on my second run (more like jog for me!) of the year. Funny, I don't mind running when I first get down here. I'm so excited about the warm air, its fun to exercise!!!

This is another little still life from December 2011. I did this one from a photo. It was harder than I thought it would be because I usually have a photo and the actual still life right in front of me. It presents a challenge when you only work from pictures.

Happy New Year Everyone!!!!

Time is flying by!!!

Well, I know it's been forever since I posted. I kept meaning to get back here to say that I'd be too busy to post for a while. I guess I was too busy to do that!!! Here's my latest still life that I've just completed. (20 x 20 inches) I'm always picking up rocks or feathers, "treasures" as I call them when I'm outside. Those of you who have hiked with me know how I can slow us down! LOL! Anyway, it's fun for me to put these little "treasures" in my paintings.

I may not post much thru the end of the year, but once I'm back in Florida, will pick back up. I'll try to get my ebay line going again after the first of the year as well (for my faithful collectors!) Thanks everyone!!!

Latest Still Life...

Here's my latest little still life. I just can't get enough of those teacups!!! They're so fancy...and I'm not...so maybe that's why they're so fun to paint. I hope everyone is having a great week!

Favorite Things...

I went with my Mom several weeks ago to one of the local antique shows and I bought these sweet little handkerchiefs. I've always thought they were pretty and my Grandmother would sometimes let me carry one of hers in my purse when I was a little girl. Now, granted I never use them...(I'm a kleenex girl!!) but I just love the delicate little patterns on them so I've been putting them in my still life work. Being an artist gives me a bit of an excuse to keep useless little things around just because I like them.

Still Life Work...

I don't talk much about my still life work here because I link this to my ebay account where I sell my little landscapes. However, I've had a trying week due to a bad tooth (I'm scheduled for a root canal...yikes!!). I don't have much to say because I'm a bit behind. So thought I would post this little cup and saucer. A lot of what I will be working on this summer, besides my little landscapes, will be still life work. This one is 14 x 14 inches. My new stuff will likely be much larger.

Rain, rain, rain!!!

It has been raining like crazy here! I think we're like 11 inches ABOVE normal. It's a good time for some still life work. I thought I would post a few wip photos of this fun little one from a week or two ago. I've been calling it Skulls And Roses. I've really got a thing for teacups these days. I don't drink tea, so I've no idea why! LOL!

The landscape will be available for sale on ebay after 4/28/2011.

Changes...

I've really been exploring doing more studio still lifes. Now I'm torn because I like the control I have working in the studio. That may sound weird, but I do. However, I love the outdoors and I'm drawn to painting what I love there also. I think this year is sort of going to be a pivotal year for me with my work. I'm not sure if I'm at a crossroads, or if I'm just in for some serious refinement. I know many of you are going thru, or have gone thru this. I'm excited about it, but a part of me wants to jump to the end to see how it all turns out!!! I'm still planning on doing my little ebay jewels that I post here, but my larger works are in for some changes I think!!!
